About Me

There Is Never an Excuse to ignore High Blood Pressure

I used to thinkt that people in good health just had "healthy genes" and that daily habits didn't affect health very much. Due to that belief, when my doctor diagnosed me with high blood pressure and prescribed a medication to treat it, I didn't take it at first. I soon got a health "wake up call" when I began experiencing chest pains. My wife took me to the ER and, thankfully, they determined I wasn't having a heart attack, like I thought I was. The next day, I began taking my medication and living a healthier lifestyle. Soon, I was able to stop the medication due to my lifestyle changes, but I still monitor my blood pressure at home just to "stay on the safe side." I wanted to share my story to help others and plan to post many more health tips on my new blog.

Battling Alcohol Addiction? Signs You Need Treatment

If you're worried about your drinking, it's time to think about treatment. Recognizing the problem is the first step in your recovery process. A lot of people try to quit drinking on their own, but that's not the best approach. Eliminating alcohol from your life isn't easy. That's where alcohol treatment comes into the picture. If you're struggling with alcohol addiction, read the list below. If you're dealing with any of the issues described here, it's time to seek treatment for your alcohol addiction.

You've Sustained Injuries

If you've injured yourself while drinking, now's the time to talk to an alcohol recovery counselor. Alcohol consumption increases your risk of accidents and injuries. If you don't drink and drive, you might think you're safe. That's not the case though. There are other ways to injure yourself while you're drinking. You could trip and fall while drinking. Or, you could get caught up in a bar fight. If you've encountered any of those situations, it's time to get help. With the right treatment, you can overcome your addiction to alcohol.

You're Missing Events

If alcohol is interfering with your life, it's time to get help. Alcohol addiction can cause you to miss out on important events in your life. But, alcohol addiction can also interfere with your job. Unfortunately, that can lead to loss of employment. Luckily, help is available. Before you miss out on too much of your life, get help through an alcohol rehab program.

You've Tried to Quit

If you've tried to quit on your own, don't give up. Alcohol treatment programs can give you the help you need during the recovery process. That includes one-on-one counseling and group sessions. But, alcohol treatment programs can also help with symptoms of withdrawal. Those are treatment benefits you can't get when you try to overcome alcohol addiction by yourself.

You've Blacked Out

If you've lost track of time while drinking, you need to get help right away. Drinking too much can cause alcoholic blackouts. When that happens, you can lose track of time. But, you can also put your safety in danger. Don't live with alcohol-induced blackouts. Talk to the staff at an alcohol recovery center right away. They can give you the help you need to overcome the addiction and break free of the blackouts.

If you're ready to get control of your life, it's time to get help with your alcohol addiction. If you're not sure where to start, contact an alcohol addiction treatment center near you.
