About Me

There Is Never an Excuse to ignore High Blood Pressure

I used to thinkt that people in good health just had "healthy genes" and that daily habits didn't affect health very much. Due to that belief, when my doctor diagnosed me with high blood pressure and prescribed a medication to treat it, I didn't take it at first. I soon got a health "wake up call" when I began experiencing chest pains. My wife took me to the ER and, thankfully, they determined I wasn't having a heart attack, like I thought I was. The next day, I began taking my medication and living a healthier lifestyle. Soon, I was able to stop the medication due to my lifestyle changes, but I still monitor my blood pressure at home just to "stay on the safe side." I wanted to share my story to help others and plan to post many more health tips on my new blog.

Tips For Getting Botox Injections

Botox has become increasingly popular with people who want to smooth lines and wrinkles. Getting Botox involves very minimal discomfort and virtually no recovery time, making it perfect for someone who wants results that can make him or her look refreshed and more useful. If you are considering getting Botox, use the following tips:

Select the Right Doctor

When done correctly, Botox can have amazing results. But, if a provider is not experienced in administering Botox and doesn't know what he or she is doing, patients are not likely to be happy. It is in your best interest to see a dermatologist to get Botox. Choose a dermatologist who specializes in cosmetic procedures and is very experienced in administering Botox injections.

Be Clear About Your Expectations

A cosmetic facial procedure should improve your appearance and make you happy. Before having any Botox injected, take the time to clearly explain to your doctor what areas you are concerned with and what outcomes you are hoping for. Botox is used on many areas of the face, but depending on what you want, fillers may be a better option than Botox. Discussing your expectations with your doctor will ensure that you leave the office happy.

Utilize an Ice Pack

It can be very useful to use an ice pack on your face before and after getting Botox injections. Using an ice pack can help prevent bruising in the areas where you get injections. An ice pack can also help with any minor discomfort that you may experience from the injections themselves.

Leave Your Skin Alone

An experienced dermatologist will carefully select the injection sites for the best results. After you get Botox injections, it is important to leave your skin alone as the Botox settles. Rubbing or massaging your face can cause the Botox to spread to surrounding muscles, which can result in a look that you may not be happy with. For a few days after getting Botox, it is best to touch your face as little as possible.

Temporarily Avoid Additional Facial Treatments

When you schedule an appointment to get Botox injections, don't plan on getting any other facial treatments in the following days. Things like chemical peels, facials, and microdermabrasion are never a good idea right after getting Botox. At a minimum, wait several days after your injections before doing any other cosmetic treatments or procedures to the skin on your face.
